Proxy Account
Also known as: Delegate Account
A formal mechanism within a digital system that allows an authorized person to perform tasks on behalf of another user with defined permissions and accountability. In financial technology, proxy accounts enable financial delegates to help older adults or people with disabilities manage banking and payments without the security risks of credential sharing. Research has shown that proxy accounts provide legitimacy and accountability, and can be enhanced with behavioural nudges to help delegates act more accurately.
