Inspiration Porn

The portrayal of people with disabilities as inspirational solely or primarily because of their disability, objectifying them for the benefit of non-disabled audiences. Coined by disability activist Stella Young, inspiration porn reduces disabled people to motivational props and reinforces the idea that disability is inherently tragic and that ordinary activities performed by disabled people are extraordinary achievements. This framing is commonly found in media, AI-generated content, and large language model outputs, where stories about disabled people often default to narratives of overcoming or being "fixed."
