User-Generated Content Accessibility

Also known as: UGC Accessibility

The practice of ensuring that user-generated content such as online reviews, forum posts, comments, and social media contributions is accessible to people with disabilities. Unlike curated website content, user-generated content poses unique accessibility challenges because it is unstructured, repetitive, and often presented in interfaces designed for visual skimming. For screen reader users, navigating large volumes of user-generated content is particularly burdensome due to the linear, sequential nature of auditory consumption. Solutions include thematic reorganization, summarization, sentiment-based filtering, and alternative presentation formats that reduce cognitive load.
