Machine Learning

Also known as: ML

A branch of artificial intelligence in which computer systems learn patterns from data to make predictions or decisions without being explicitly programmed for each scenario. In accessibility contexts, machine learning is used for a wide range of applications: predicting disability conditions from health data, powering automatic speech recognition for captioning, generating image descriptions, adapting user interfaces to individual needs, and detecting accessibility barriers in websites. Classification models such as support vector machines, random forests, and decision trees are commonly used to categorize data—for example, predicting ADHD likelihood from behavioural features with accuracies above 90%.
