Pull Notification
Also known as: On-Demand Notification, User-Initiated Notification
A notification or information delivery model where content is provided only when explicitly requested by the user, in contrast to push notifications which are delivered automatically. In assistive navigation contexts, pull notifications allow blind users to request specific details about their surroundings — such as shop categories, promotional offers, or nearby points of interest — when they want more information. This approach helps manage cognitive load and information overload by giving users control over the depth and timing of information they receive, which is especially important in audio-based interfaces where all information competes for the same sensory channel.
