Sustainable Mobility
Also known as: Sustainable Transportation, Green Mobility
Transportation systems and practices that meet current mobility needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs, emphasizing reduced environmental impact, energy efficiency, and equitable access. In accessibility contexts, sustainable mobility highlights the connection between accessible public transit and environmental outcomes — when public transportation is inaccessible to people with disabilities, they are often forced to rely on private vehicles or taxis, increasing carbon emissions and transportation costs. Designing inclusive, accessible public transit systems therefore serves both social equity and environmental sustainability goals.
