Scoping Review
Also known as: Scoping Study
A scoping review is a type of research synthesis that systematically maps the existing literature on a broad topic to identify key concepts, gaps in evidence, and types of available research. Unlike systematic reviews that answer specific questions, scoping reviews chart the breadth of activity in a field. In accessibility research, scoping reviews are valuable for understanding the landscape of assistive technology development, identifying where user needs are underserved, and revealing whether research priorities align with the actual needs of people with disabilities.
