Spinal Cord Injury
Also known as: SCI
Damage to the spinal cord that results in temporary or permanent changes in motor function, sensation, or autonomic function below the level of injury. Depending on the location and severity, spinal cord injuries can cause paraplegia (lower body paralysis) or quadriplegia/tetraplegia (paralysis of all four limbs). People with spinal cord injuries may require a range of assistive technologies for computer access, from adaptive mice and voice recognition to single-switch interfaces, depending on their level of remaining motor control.
