Accessibility Feature Discovery

Also known as: Feature Discoverability, Accessibility Settings Discovery

The process by which users become aware of, find, understand, and adopt accessibility features and settings available on their devices or in software. Research consistently shows that many users who could benefit from accessibility features are unaware they exist, cannot find them within complex settings hierarchies, do not understand what they do, or are deterred from experimenting due to fear of breaking something or not knowing how to reverse changes. The challenge is compounded for people with mild disabilities who may not associate with the term "accessibility" and therefore never look in menus labeled as such. Effective feature discovery strategies include proactive recommendations based on usage patterns, contextual suggestions when difficulties are detected, and integrating supportive features into mainstream settings rather than siloing them in accessibility menus.
