Glaucoma

A group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, typically associated with elevated intraocular pressure. Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. It usually causes gradual loss of peripheral vision first, which can progress to tunnel vision and eventually complete blindness if untreated. Because early-stage glaucoma may go unnoticed, it is sometimes called the "silent thief of sight." For digital accessibility, people with glaucoma-related vision loss may need screen magnification, high contrast settings, and careful visual layouts that account for reduced peripheral field of view.
