Remote Usability Testing

Also known as: Remote User Study, Remote User Evaluation

Usability testing conducted with participants in their own homes or workplaces rather than in a research lab, typically using video conferencing, screen sharing, or other remote communication tools. Remote methods became especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic and offer ongoing benefits for accessibility research, including broader geographic recruitment, reduced travel barriers for participants with disabilities, and testing in participants' natural environments with their own assistive technology setups. Challenges include limited observational access, hardware troubleshooting difficulties, and network connectivity issues.
