Dyslexia Screening

Also known as: Dyslexia Assessment, Reading Disability Screening

The process of identifying individuals who may be at risk for dyslexia, typically through standardized tests that assess reading fluency, phonological awareness, rapid naming, and other cognitive indicators associated with the condition. Traditional screening requires trained professionals and can be expensive, creating access barriers particularly in under-resourced communities. Digital screening tools using gamified tests and machine learning are emerging as scalable alternatives, enabling earlier identification in school settings. Early screening is critical because dyslexia often goes undiagnosed — especially in languages with transparent orthographies — leading to preventable school failure and long-term educational disadvantage.
