Speech Language Pathologist

Also known as: SLP, Speech Therapist, Speech-Language Therapist

A licensed healthcare professional who specialises in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders, including speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing difficulties. In accessibility and disability contexts, SLPs play a critical role in supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, stroke, and other conditions that affect communication. They are key practitioners in selecting and implementing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, developing communication goals, and training families and educators in communication strategies.
