Embodied Critique

Also known as: Embodied Feedback, Body-Based Critique

A method of expressing critical feedback through physical bodies and bodily actions rather than relying solely on spoken or written language. Embodied critique draws on disability cultures where communication frequently extends beyond verbal or textual modes, recognizing that different bodyminds produce different ways of knowing and expressing. In design research with disabled communities, embodied critique can elicit more direct and nuanced feedback than traditional language-based methods like interviews or surveys, particularly when power dynamics make verbal criticism difficult or when participants' primary communication is spatial and physical.
