Person-Centred Planning
Also known as: Person-Centered Planning, PCP
A combination of approaches designed to empower people with disabilities to make their own choices and decisions about the support they receive. In accessibility contexts, person-centred planning shifts control from service providers to the individual, recognizing that people with disabilities are the experts on their own needs. It is widely used in education, healthcare, and social services to ensure that support plans reflect the person's preferences, goals, and circumstances rather than fitting them into pre-defined service categories. The approach is particularly valuable when designing technology and services for people with diverse accessibility needs, as it allows for personalisation and self-determination.
