Region of Interest

Also known as: ROI, Area of Interest, AOI

A specific area within an image, video frame, or user interface that has been identified as particularly relevant or important for analysis or user attention. In eye-tracking research, regions of interest are predefined areas on a stimulus where fixation data is collected to understand viewing patterns. In assistive technology for low vision, ROIs are computationally identified areas of visual content that a magnification system should prioritize, enabling automatic viewport navigation to the most meaningful parts of dynamic content such as video.
