Screen Magnifier
Also known as: Screen Magnification Software, Magnification Software
An assistive technology application that enlarges a portion of the screen display to make content more readable for people with low vision. Screen magnifiers work by rendering a zoomed-in view of the area around the cursor or focus point, often providing additional features such as color enhancement, cursor customization, and smooth tracking. Common examples include ZoomText, Windows Magnifier, and macOS Zoom. Unlike browser zoom which only affects web content, screen magnifiers operate at the system level and work across all applications, though they can introduce challenges such as loss of spatial context and the need for extensive scrolling.
