WAI

Also known as: Web Accessibility Initiative

A programme of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) that develops strategies, standards, and supporting resources to make the web accessible to people with disabilities. WAI is responsible for producing some of the most widely adopted accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG), and the User Agent Accessibility Guidelines (UAAG), as well as the WAI-ARIA specification for enriching web content with accessibility semantics. WAI also develops educational resources, evaluation tools, and policy guidance to support the implementation of web accessibility across organizations worldwide.
