Travel Chain
Also known as: Mobility Chain, Journey Chain
A travel chain is the complete sequence of connected stages that make up a journey from origin to destination, including planning, leaving the starting point, walking to transport, using public transport, navigating outdoor environments, entering buildings, and finding specific rooms or locations within buildings. In accessibility, the travel chain concept emphasizes that a journey is only as accessible as its least accessible link — if any single stage is inaccessible, the entire journey may be impossible. For people with visual impairments, each link in the chain requires specific accessibility information, from transport schedules and route accessibility to indoor navigation and building layout.
