Chord Entry
Also known as: Chording, Chord Input, Chordal Input
A method of text input where multiple keys are pressed simultaneously to produce a single character, rather than pressing keys sequentially. In braille keyboards such as the Perkins Brailler, chord entry involves pressing combinations of six keys at once to represent different braille cells. This approach enables efficient text entry for experienced users but typically requires two hands, which presents a barrier for people with upper limb disabilities or who can only use one hand.
