Cognitive Training
Also known as: Brain Training, Cognitive Remediation
Structured programs or applications that use repeated practice on standardized tasks to improve specific cognitive functions such as working memory, attention, or processing speed. In accessibility contexts, cognitive training is particularly relevant for people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, or age-related cognitive decline. Accessible cognitive training applications must balance the need for sustained engagement — often achieved through gamification — with managing cognitive load so that the training interface itself does not overwhelm the cognitive capacities being trained.
