Font Size
Also known as: Text Size, Type Size, Point Size
The measurement of how large characters in a typeface are displayed, typically expressed in points (pt), pixels (px), or relative units (em, rem). Font size is a critical accessibility concern because text that is too small creates barriers for people with low vision, older adults, and anyone reading on small screens. WCAG requires that text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality (Success Criterion 1.4.4) and recommends that text spacing can be adjusted (Success Criterion 1.4.12). Research consistently shows that larger font sizes (18pt and above) improve reading speed, comprehension, and comfort for older adults on digital devices.
