ClearSpeak
A set of rules for generating natural-sounding spoken descriptions of mathematical expressions, developed by ETS (Educational Testing Service). ClearSpeak uses conversational phrasing like "the fraction with numerator... and denominator..." rather than the more explicit bracketing language of MathSpeak ("StartFraction... Over... EndFraction"). ClearSpeak is designed to be more intuitive and easier to understand for general readers, while MathSpeak's disambiguating markers may be more appropriate for large or complex expressions where structural clarity is critical. Both rule sets are supported in the Speech Rule Engine used by MathJax, allowing users to switch between them based on preference and context.
