Electronic Travel Aid
Also known as: ETA
An electronic device designed to help blind or visually impaired people navigate their environment by detecting obstacles and conveying spatial information through non-visual feedback such as audio cues, vibrations, or tactile signals. Electronic travel aids range from simple handheld obstacle detectors to sophisticated wearable systems incorporating ultrasonic sensors, cameras, or GPS. They are typically used as supplements to primary mobility tools like the white cane or guide dog, extending detection range or covering areas those tools cannot reach.
