Web of Things
Also known as: WoT
An application layer built on top of the Internet of Things (IoT) that uses open web standards — including HTTP, WebSockets, JSON-LD, and semantic web technologies — as a universal platform for interoperability between connected devices. Proposed by the W3C, the Web of Things aims to bring the same openness and standardization that enabled the traditional web to the world of connected sensors, actuators, and smart devices. For accessibility, WoT is significant because open web standards enable assistive technologies to interact with IoT systems using familiar protocols, and allow accessibility information to flow between devices in a standardized way.
