Pedagogical Content Knowledge

Also known as: PCK

A concept from educational research referring to the intersection between a teacher's general pedagogical expertise (how to teach) and the specific content knowledge of their discipline (what to teach). In accessibility education, PCK encompasses understanding not only the technical, social, and legal dimensions of accessibility but also the most effective ways to teach these concepts to different audiences. Developing strong PCK for accessibility is challenging because the field draws from multiple disciplines including computing science, human-computer interaction, and disability studies, each with its own pedagogical traditions.
