Think Aloud Protocol
Also known as: Think-Aloud Method, Verbal Protocol Analysis, Thinking Aloud
A usability testing method in which participants verbalize their thoughts, feelings, and decision-making processes while performing tasks with a system or interface. Developed for cognitive interface design research, the think aloud protocol helps evaluators understand how users perceive and interact with a product by capturing their real-time reasoning, confusion points, and expectations. It is widely used in accessibility evaluation to identify barriers experienced by people with disabilities, as it reveals not just what users struggle with but why they struggle.
