Click-on-Lift
Also known as: Lift-off Activation, Release Activation
An interaction technique where a touch target is activated only when the user lifts their finger from the screen while still within the target area, rather than registering the action at the point of initial contact. This approach is particularly beneficial for users with hand tremor or limited motor control, as it allows them to place their finger on the screen, adjust their position by sliding to the correct target, and then lift to confirm their selection. Click-on-lift reduces accidental activations caused by finger slippage and aligns with the WCAG pointer cancellation success criterion, which recommends that the up-event be used to complete actions so users have an opportunity to abort.
