Barrier Walkthrough

Also known as: BW Method

The Barrier Walkthrough is a structured expert evaluation method for assessing web accessibility in which evaluators systematically examine a website against a predefined set of accessibility barriers rather than individual guideline success criteria. Unlike conformance-based evaluation that checks technical requirements, the Barrier Walkthrough focuses on potential user-facing problems organized by disability type and interaction scenario. This approach aims to bridge the gap between technical guideline compliance and actual user experience by framing evaluation in terms of barriers that real users would encounter.
