Cloud-Based Assistive Technology
Also known as: Assistive Technology as a Service, ATaaS, Cloud AT
An approach to delivering assistive technology through cloud computing, where personalised accessibility software configurations, preferences, and tools are stored remotely and delivered on demand to any device via the internet. This model addresses the portability problem: people with disabilities who rely on customised assistive software (screen readers, magnifiers, keyboard adaptations) traditionally cannot access their configured tools when using shared, public, or unfamiliar computers. Cloud-based AT enables users to access their personal accessibility environment from any networked device with a web browser. Related initiatives include GPII (Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure), now known as Morphic, which aims to automatically configure any device to a user's accessibility preferences.
