Delivery Context

Delivery context is a term defined by the W3C Device Independence Working Group to describe the set of attributes that characterize the environment in which web content is delivered and consumed. This includes device capabilities (screen size, supported markup languages, color depth, input methods), network characteristics (bandwidth, latency), and user preferences (text size, preferred language, accessibility settings). Delivery context is used by content adaptation systems to select or transform content for optimal presentation. For accessibility, delivery context is significant because it can encompass disability-related user preferences, enabling automated adaptation of content — though this raises privacy concerns about transmitting personal information through processing chains.
