User Experience
Also known as: UX
A person's perceptions and responses resulting from the use or anticipated use of a product, system, or service, encompassing emotions, beliefs, preferences, physical and psychological responses, and behaviours. Defined by ISO 9241-210, user experience goes beyond usability (which focuses on effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction) to include subjective factors like pleasure, aesthetic appeal, and emotional connection. In accessibility, UX is critical because an assistive technology or accessible interface can meet all technical requirements yet still be abandoned if the experience is frustrating, stigmatizing, or cognitively exhausting. Good accessible UX considers not just whether a task can be completed, but whether the experience of completing it is equitable and satisfying across different abilities.
