TEITAC

Also known as: Telecommunications and Electronic and Information Technology Advisory Committee

A US federal advisory committee established in September 2006 by the Access Board to recommend updates to the Section 508 standards and Section 255 telecommunications accessibility guidelines. TEITAC included representatives from government, industry, consumers, and international experts from Canada, the European Union, Japan, and Australia. The committee's recommendations, completed in 2008, harmonized US accessibility requirements with WCAG 2.0 for web content, contributing to the eventual Section 508 Refresh finalized in 2017. TEITAC's work was significant for promoting international alignment of accessibility standards.
