Communicability

A quality property of interactive systems proposed by Semiotic Engineering theory, referring to the system's ability to effectively and efficiently convey to users the designer's communicative intentions, logic, and underlying interaction principles. High communicability means users can understand what the system is for, what they can do with it, how to do it, and why. In the context of accessibility, communicability becomes critical when assistive technologies like screen readers mediate the interaction, as the "translation" from visual to auditory presentation can introduce communication breakdowns that reduce communicability for users with disabilities even when technical accessibility criteria are met.
