HoloLens
Also known as: Microsoft HoloLens
A self-contained, wearable mixed reality headset developed by Microsoft that overlays interactive holograms onto the user's real-world environment. HoloLens uses spatial mapping, gaze tracking, gesture recognition (air-tap), voice commands, and a physical clicker for interaction. It has been explored in accessibility research as a platform for therapeutic applications for people with neurodevelopmental disorders, Alzheimer's disease, and other conditions, enabling users to practice real-world tasks in mixed reality environments. Usability research with disabled users has revealed that standard interaction methods like air-tap can be challenging for people with motor impairments, highlighting the need for alternative input options.
