Touchscreen Accessibility

Also known as: Touch Interface Accessibility

Touchscreen accessibility refers to the design principles, techniques, and assistive technologies that make touchscreen devices usable by people with disabilities. This includes screen reader gestures (such as VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android), which allow blind users to explore the screen through touch and receive audio feedback, as well as features like large touch targets, haptic feedback, and alternative input methods. Touchscreen devices have become popular among blind and low-vision users, particularly with the widespread adoption of smartphones and tablets that include built-in screen readers.
