Spearcon
A spearcon is a type of auditory icon created by compressing a spoken phrase until it becomes a very brief, distinctive audio cue. Unlike earcons, which use abstract musical sounds, spearcons retain a connection to the original speech, making them easier to learn and associate with their corresponding menu items or interface elements. Spearcons have been explored as a way to help blind and low-vision users navigate programming environments and other complex interfaces more efficiently by providing rapid audio feedback about code structure and navigation state.
