Auto-Correction
Also known as: Autocorrect, Automatic error correction, Spell correction
A software feature that automatically detects and corrects typing errors, typically by comparing entered text against a dictionary and suggesting or applying the closest match based on string distance algorithms. Auto-correction is particularly important for accessible text entry methods used by people with visual impairments, where error rates may be higher due to the challenges of non-visual input. Effective auto-correction can significantly improve the usability of alternative input methods by reducing the burden of manual error detection and correction through a screen reader.
