Stroke

Also known as: Cerebrovascular Accident, CVA, Brain Attack

A medical condition occurring when blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Strokes can cause lasting brain damage, long-term disability, or death. In accessibility contexts, stroke survivors often experience motor impairments affecting one side of the body (hemiparesis), cognitive changes, communication difficulties, and fatigue that impact their ability to use digital technologies. Understanding stroke-related disabilities is essential for designing accessible interfaces that accommodate reduced motor control, one-handed operation, and cognitive load management.
