Experiential Accessibility

Also known as: Experience-Centric Accessibility

An approach to accessibility that goes beyond removing barriers to ensure disabled people can have equitable, meaningful experiences with technology—not just functional access. In the context of experiential technologies like virtual reality or games, this means designing for and evaluating whether disabled users achieve the same quality of experience (e.g., presence, immersion, enjoyment) that non-disabled users do, rather than only measuring task completion or safety. The concept challenges accessibility research to move beyond "can they use it?" to "do they experience it fully?"
