Electroencephalography
Also known as: EEG
A non-invasive method of recording electrical activity in the brain using electrodes placed on the scalp. EEG is fundamental to most consumer and research brain-computer interfaces because it is relatively inexpensive, portable, and safe compared to invasive neural recording methods. For accessibility applications, EEG-based systems can detect patterns associated with motor imagery, attention shifts, or other mental states to provide alternative input for people who cannot use physical controls.
