Instructional Technology

Digital technologies intentionally designed and used for teaching and learning purposes, including learning management systems (Google Classroom, Canvas), educational software (Khan Academy, MyMathLab), student response systems (Kahoot), digital textbooks, and assessment platforms. The systemic inaccessibility of instructional technology in K-12 education has excluded blind and low-vision students from technology-mediated learning for over two decades, prompting legal action against school districts and calls for youth-specific accessibility guidelines. Accessible instructional technologies must be both easy to learn to use with access technology and easy to use to learn the educational content.
