Micrographia
Also known as: Small Handwriting
A condition characterized by abnormally small, cramped handwriting that often becomes progressively smaller within a line or paragraph. Micrographia is a common early sign of Parkinson's Disease, resulting from the same motor control difficulties that cause bradykinesia. The condition affects approximately 50-75% of people with PD and can impact the ability to fill out paper forms, sign documents, or take handwritten notes. For accessibility, micrographia is relevant when considering alternatives to handwriting, such as digital input methods, though tremor and rigidity may also affect typing and touchscreen use.
