Self-Regulated Learning
Also known as: SRL, Self-Directed Learning
The process by which learners actively manage their own cognition, motivation, and behavior to achieve learning goals. Self-regulated learning involves planning approaches, monitoring comprehension, adjusting strategies when needed, and evaluating outcomes. Research shows that metacognitive awareness can buffer the effects of executive dysfunction on self-regulated learning, making it a key target for supporting students with ADHD, autism, and other cognitive disabilities.
