Montreal Cognitive Assessment

Also known as: MoCA

A widely used cognitive screening tool designed to detect mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The MoCA assesses multiple cognitive domains including short-term memory, visuospatial abilities, executive function, attention, language, and orientation. Scores range from 0-30, with 26 or above typically considered normal. In accessibility research, MoCA scores help characterize participant cognitive abilities when studying technology use by older adults or people with cognitive conditions. The assessment takes approximately 10-15 minutes and is more sensitive to early cognitive decline than some older screening tools.
