Gestural Input
Also known as: Gesture-based Input, Touch Gestures
Input methods that interpret finger movements on a touchscreen as commands, including taps, swipes, pinches, and multi-finger gestures. For blind users, gestural input must be performed without visual feedback, requiring consistent gesture recognition regardless of screen position. Research shows blind users prefer simpler gestures (single-finger, rounded movements) over complex angular gestures, and tend to favor screen edges and corners as reference points since they provide tactile landmarks on an otherwise flat surface.
