Legion:Scribe
Also known as: Scribe, Legion Scribe
A crowd captioning system developed at the University of Rochester that enables multiple non-expert typists to collectively produce real-time captions by simultaneously typing partial transcriptions of speech, which are then automatically aligned and merged into a single comprehensive transcript using a multiple sequence alignment algorithm. Built on the Legion framework for real-time crowdsourcing, Legion:Scribe demonstrated that groups of untrained workers could produce captions approaching the quality of professional CART services at significantly lower cost.
