Brain Injury

Also known as: Acquired Brain Injury, ABI

Damage to the brain that occurs after birth, resulting from trauma, stroke, infection, tumour, or other causes. Brain injuries can affect physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning, potentially causing difficulties with movement, memory, attention, communication, and problem-solving. Rehabilitation for brain injury often involves repetitive exercises across physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Assistive technologies and adaptive interfaces can help people with brain injuries access digital content and participate in rehabilitation activities, including motion-based games that make repetitive exercises more engaging.
