Written Choice
Also known as: Written Choice Technique
A therapeutic communication technique used with individuals who have aphasia, in which a conversation partner asks a question and then provides anticipated written answers for the person to choose from. This scaffolded approach reduces the language production demands on the individual while still supporting meaningful communication and decision-making. In digital accessibility, the written choice concept has been adapted as a navigation and interaction paradigm, guiding users through tasks by presenting clear, written options at each step rather than requiring open-ended input.
