MathPlayer

A software plugin developed by Design Science that enables the rendering and text-to-speech reading of mathematical expressions encoded in MathML within web browsers and other applications. MathPlayer works with screen readers and text-to-speech tools like Read & Write Gold to vocalise mathematical notation, making it accessible to people with visual impairments and learning disabilities. A key feature is its customisable speech rules, which allow the way expressions are verbalised to be adjusted for different audiences — for example, tailoring pronunciation for sighted students with learning disabilities versus blind users who need more explicit structural cues.
